Classification of flow meters

Instruments for measuring fluid flow are collectively referred to as flowmeters or flowmeters.Flow meter is one of the important instruments in industrial measurement.With the development of industrial production, the requirement of flow measurement accuracy and range is higher and higher.In order to adapt to various USES, various types of flowmeters have been introduced.More than 100 kinds of flowmeters have been put into use.

It is classified according to the structure principle of the flowmeter.There are volumetric flowmeter, differential pressure flowmeter, float flowmeter, turbine flow meter, electromagnetic flowmeter, vortex flow meter, mass flow meter and plug flowmeter in fluid oscillating flowmeter.


I. Classification according to the principle of measurement

1. Mechanical principle: instruments belonging to this principle include differential pressure type and rotor type using Bernoulli's theorem;The impulse formula and the movable tube formula of momentum theorem are used.Direct mass formula using Newton's second law;Target formula using fluid momentum principle;Turbine formula using the angular momentum theorem;Vortex and vortex street based on the fluid oscillation principle;Pitot tube type and volume type, weir type, groove type, etc.

2. Principle of electricity: the instruments used in this principle include electromagnetic type, differential capacitance type, inductance type, strain resistance type, etc.

3. Acoustic principle: ultrasonic wave is used for flow measurement based on acoustic principle.Acoustic (shock wave), etc.

4. Thermal principle: heat type, direct heat type, indirect heat type, etc. of flow measurement based on thermal principle.

5. Optical principle: laser type, photoelectric type, etc. are instruments belonging to this principle.

6. Original physical principles: nuclear magnetic resonance type, nuclear radiation type, etc. are instruments belonging to such principles.

7. Other principles: labeling principle (tracer principle, nuclear magnetic resonance principle), correlation principle, etc.
