Vortex flow meter installation environment requirements

Vortex flow meter because of its no moving parts, firm structure simple, not easy, not easy, not easy scaling, resistance to high temperature and high pressure, is widely used to measure the rate of flow of steam, gas, liquid, and is the application of a wide range of flow meter, in order to ensure the measuring accuracy of vortex flowmeter, vortex flowmeter are installed correctly is an important foundation.Next, we will explain in detail how to install the vortex flowmeter correctly and the matters needing attention.

First, we need to know the requirements of vortex flowmeter installation environment

(1) as far as possible to avoid strong electric equipment, high frequency equipment, strong switching power supply equipment.The power supply of the meter is separated from these devices as far as possible to prevent external interference.

(2) avoid high humidity environment and strong corrosive gas environment, if you want to install, there must be ventilation measures.

(3) in high temperature heat sources and radiation sources have a direct impact on the environment, the installation should be avoided as far as possible, if not able to choose, need to have heat insulation and ventilation measures.

(4) Try to choose the pipe section with weak vibration for installation. If it cannot be avoided, pipe fastening devices should be installed in the upstream and downstream 2D places, and anti-vibration pads should be added to enhance anti-vibration effect.

(5) the instrument can choose to be installed indoors as far as possible in the indoor installation, installation in the outdoor should pay attention to waterproof, especially pay attention to the electrical interface should be bent into U-shaped cable, avoid water along the cable into the amplifier shell.

(6) when selecting the instrument installation point, there should be plenty of space around it for installation and wiring and later maintenance.

II. Pipeline installation requirements for vortex flow meters

The installation of vortex flowmeter has certain requirements on the upstream and downstream straight pipe section of the installation point, otherwise the flow field of medium in the pipeline will be affected, and then the measurement accuracy of the flowmeter will be affected.The length requirements of the straight pipe section are shown in the figure below:


Note: If possible, the regulator should not be installed upstream of the vortex flowmeter, but 10D downstream of the vortex flowmeter.

(1) the upper and downstream pipe inner diameter should be the same.If there is any difference, the inner diameter of the pipe DP and the inner diameter of the vortex flow meter should meet the following relationship: 0.98dB ≤Dp≤ 1.05dB; the upper and downstream pipe should be concentric with the inner diameter of the flow meter, and the dissimilarity between them should be less than: 0.05dB.

(2) the sealing gasket between the instrument and the flange can not be convex into the pipe during installation, and its inner diameter should be 1-2mm larger than the body diameter of the table.

Three, vortex street flowmeter installation steps

(1) Open the pipe according to the requirements of the opening size, and make the opening position meet the requirements of the straight pipe section.

(2) the complete set of flowmeter connected with the flange is put into the pipe with a good opening.

(3) welding positioning is carried out on both sides of the two flanges.Remove the flowmeter, weld the flange as required, and clean all protruding parts of the pipe.

(4) Install the same sealing washer in the inner groove of the flange with the pipeline, load the flowmeter into the middle of the flange, and make the flow direction of the flowmeter and the direction of the fluid in the same, and then connect it with bolts.

IV. Installation of the flow meter on the horizontal pipe

(1) When measuring the gas flow, if the gas to be measured contains a small amount of liquid, the flowmeter should be installed in the higher part of the pipeline.


(2) When measuring the liquid, if there is a small amount of gas in the liquid to be measured, the flowmeter should be installed in the lower part of the pipeline.


V. Installation of the flow meter in the vertical pipe:

(1) When measuring gas, the flowmeter can be installed on the vertical pipe, and the flow direction is unlimited.

(2) if the measured gas contains a small amount of liquid, the gas flow should be from the bottom to the top.

(3) When measuring the flow direction of the liquid, the flow direction of the liquid should be from the bottom to the top.


VI. Matters needing attention for installation of vortex flowmeter

(1) The installation of the flowmeter must be carried out in accordance with the requirements to avoid damage to the meter caused by improper installation and affect the measurement accuracy.

(2) The flowmeter should be avoided to be installed on the long overhead pipe as far as possible, because the sag of the pipe is easy to cause the sealing leakage between the flowmeter and the flange.If installation is necessary, support points shall be provided on the upper and lower 2D sides of the flowmeter.

(3) If the medium to be measured needs to be compensated for temperature and pressure (such as steam and compressed air), the pressure measuring point should be about 3-5d downstream of the flowmeter, and the temperature point should be 4-8d downstream of the flow of the flowmeter, as shown in the figure below:

(4) In the pipeline of measuring steam, in order to prevent the temperature of the converter from being too high, the connecting rod of the instrument should be at least half insulated (as shown in the figure). In order to facilitate observation and wiring, the head of the flow meter can rotate 360 degrees in its original position. After adjusting the position, the lock nut can be tightened.If the meter head is facing down, wrap the lock nut with waterproof tape and seal it properly.
