What Should I Know When Installing An Ultrasonic Level Gauge?

  • June 21,2019.

The ultrasonic level gauge is a liquid level measuring instrument for non-contact measurement. It does not need to directly contact the medium during measurement. Therefore, there are many types of measuring media and a wide range of applications. The ultrasonic level gauge is mainly composed of an ultrasonic transducer, a processing unit and an output unit. Ultrasonic level gauges measure media that are corrosive (acid, alkali), contaminated (sewage), or substances that are prone to sticking. Suitable for liquids that cannot be physically contacted. Ultrasonic liquid level gauge with non-contact measurement, no moving parts, simple structure, long service life, corrosion resistance, automatic temperature compensation function, not affected by medium humidity and viscosity, not subject to dielectric constant, conductivity, heat The influence of conductivity, cost-effective and so on. So what should you know before installing an ultrasonic level gauge?

1. Understand the measured media:

(a) liquid; object; dust; whether it is regular; liquid and plane objects can be used in the actual range, and other ones are increased by 1-2 specifications;

(b) Whether anti-corrosion is required; some chemicals require an anti-corrosion probe (material is polytetrafluoroethylene (Ptfe));

(c) Whether there is a volatile gas (generally a chemical); in some cases, the volatilization of the gas to the probe will affect the speed of sound of the ultrasonic wave, which may cause errors in the measurement. This requires understanding what gas;

(d) Whether there is fog: the treatment method, adding 4F film on the probe backing can prevent the probe from forming water vapor, and the blind area with 4F film will be larger, generally 40CM;

2. Understand the jar:

(a) Level change range; the highest liquid level and zero position, which is the corresponding 4-20MA, can be set freely here;

(b) The height of the can itself;

(c) The distance between the caliber and the mounting position of the watch to the tank wall; this has a beam angle problem, generally 8-10 degrees;

(d) Whether it is closed;

(e) With no pressure; can withstand 0. 3MPA;

(f) Temperature: It depends on the actual temperature of the watch, -25-80 degrees;

3. Understand the site installation requirements:

(a) Blind area: 20-60CM depending on the range, the installation needs to reserve a blind spot, it is recommended to set to 40CM;

(b) Integral or separate;

(c) Several lines;

(d) The cable length (separate) is 10M standard, and the excess is 5 yuan per meter;

(e) Installation method: flange specifications, etc.;

(f) Supply voltage selection;

Knowing the above points can help users better choose and use ultrasonic level gauges.
